At St Mary’s, we believe it’s important for children to explore, design and make things that connect to the world around them. In Design and Technology lessons, they develop hands-on making skills while also discovering how different products are designed and brought to life. Children are encouraged to use their creativity, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to come up with ideas and make products with a real purpose.
They are given opportunities to try out different techniques and materials, and are supported to explain their choices as they work. Throughout their time at St Mary’s, children also learn about Cooking and Nutrition. They explore the basics of a healthy, balanced diet, find out where our food comes from, and learn how it is grown and produced.
