Physical skills are developed throughout the school with teacher-led PE lessons. These sessions encompass the important foundations to progress sporting and physical skills in addition to the personality traits required to participate successfully. There are two PE lessons a week which are conducted both indoors and outdoors. St Mary’s benefits from Rectory Meadow which is used each week by all children (weather permitting!) to practise a range of sports such as athletics, rounders, cricket and tennis and is the venue for our annual school Sports Day. In addition, we encourage active playtimes where the children can make use of a range of equipment and apparatus. After-school clubs offer a variety of sports which are led by our carefully selected professional providers; these may include gymnastics, dance, football, cricket, hockey and athletics. Swimming instruction starts in Key Stage 2 and pupils are taken by coach to the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre in Amersham.
