‘Not a Box’ day
A Design and Technology challenge for Early Years! What can you design with a cardboard box?
After reading Not a Box, (Antoinette Portis) children had the opportunity to plan, design and make their own creations using a number of different resources. Parents were invited into school to help them complete their designs.
In Design and Technology (Food and Nutrition)
As part of Edible Garden topic, Years 3 and 4 learn where and how a variety of ingredients are grown. They are taught how to apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet in the context of making a balanced meal made from herbs. Within their lessons they discuss seasonality, understand the Eatwell plate and select a range of tools to prepare ingredients safely and hygienically.
Big Light, Big City
As part of Big Light, Big City topic in the Spring Term, KS1 discuss how they can make a 3D model structure. They needed to consider how this structure could be as stable as possible and stand up on its own using a variety of different joining techniques.
